Make these Spicy Blackberry Margaritas for a crowd. Tequila, blackberry brandy, green chiles, fresh fruit, agave, orange juice, and lime. Rimmed with chili salt. I love to get creative with margaritas, I simply cannot get enough of a well-done marg recipe. Just the right amount of spice and a vibrant and pretty color. Love at first sip.
Prep time: 10 mins
Total time: 10 mins
2 1/2 cups fresh blackberries
1 (4.5 ounce) can chopped Old El Paso green chiles
1 cup lime fresh juice
3 ounces (2 shots) blackberry brandy
2 1/2 cups orange juice
3/4 cup good quality tequila
3 tablespoons agave nectar (or more to taste)
Coarse sea salt (or salt flakes) and chili powder to rim
Blackberries and lime wedges for garnish
Place the lime juice, blackberries, and green chiles in a small bowl.
Using a muddler or immersion blender, muddle/blend until fully combined. The smoother the better.
Pour the blackberry mixture through a fine mesh strainer and remove the seeds. For me, the mixture was relatively thick so I pressed it through using a spoon to get all the juice out.
Pour the juice into a pitcher, followed by the blackberry brandy, orange juice, tequila and agave. Stir to fully combine.
Combine sea salt and chili powder (equal parts) on a plate. Dip the rim of each glass in water or lime juice and then submerge in the salt/chili mixture.
Fill each glass with ice and then pour in the margaritas. Garnish with blackberries and lime wedges.
